Diana Sorkin is an award winning New York artist born in Moscow, Russia where she received a classical art education. A graduate of Pratt Institute, she is a master of conceptual design and visual communication.
Diana has won several awards at a very early age. The list includes Channel 13 Statue of Liberty Contest, on exhibit at the French embassy and broadcast on Channel 13, St. Gauden's Medal was presented at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Her Animals of Freedom Sculpture was cast in bronze for permanent display around the Peace Fountain at the Cathedral of St. John the Devine.
Her sense of proportion and color allowed her to design award winning commercial and residential spaces alike. She has been a recipient of the Annual SICC Building Awards since 2007.
In the last five years Diana's projects included custom designs and murals for restaurants such as BESO, El Gaucho, the corporate offices for FOREX Currency Trading, Empire State Bank and United States Coast Guard as well as many other well known businesses and organizations.
In 2006, Diana was commissioned to design a 10 foot mobile sculpture for the Staten Island Jewish Community Center. The Dance of Life sculpture is a work of art suspended in motion under a 16'x16' glass atrium. It shows two figures, male and female caught in a dance and when the two overlap they form a Jewish Star. The composition is full of contrasts and compliments. The male figure is strong and solid. The female figure is translucent, voluminous. The figures also represent fire and water, reason and passion, life and spiritual unity. It is the ultimate yin and yang.
Diana Sorkin is a unique artist with an amazing ability to express different feelings and ideas in various styles. Her diverse skills include watercolors, oils, murals, sculpture and many more artistic media.
Diana's murals range in style from classic to abstract, to multimedia. She feels comfortable incorporating three dimensional elements into her commercial and residential projects.
Diana is known for creating memorable business interiors as well as whimsical magical nurseries.
Diana's paintings are full of lush overpowering flowers, which like the rest of her art are charged with dynamic contrast and sensual energy.
Diana is passionate about creating art. It is a source of endless inspiration.

Diana Sorkin is an active member of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce, and the art committeeat the JCC. She frequently participates in exhibits. Diana believes in giving back to the community. She is a recent recipient of the Wish Grant which provided art education for PS 5.
